Girlstuff Lov Lav with Double Stamping

I’ve got a Halloween inspired look for you today. I sat down with black, purple, green and orange and thought I had decided what to do for some skittles. After I set to work though, I decided on a simpler more classy look and I really like what I came up with.

I started with 3 thin coats of Oh My Golly Hematite on my pinky and 2 coats of Girl Stuff Lov Lav on the others. I stamped with Oh My Golly Purple Passion and then black stamping polish. I used my brand new Fun stamping plate 8 by Fab Ur Nails that I won in a giveaway (I got Lov Lav and the stamping polish in the giveaway too. I’ll have a post about that soon) The Stamping plate worked like a charm.

While I was surveying the finished product I could not help but be reminded of the Wraith hive ships in Stargate Atlantis. Anyone out there get that vibe too? I think it could also pass for some spider webs.

I hope you are having a great start to the week.

Wheel Of Time Nail Art – The Stole of the Amyrlin Seat and The Flame of Tar Valon

Howdy!

Wow! That is quite a title huh? I decided to put all that in the title in hopes that this would be easily found by anyone searching for Wheel Of Time (WOT) nail art. I couldn’t find any when I Googled it although I know I have seen something somewhere a long time ago.
If you have read the EPIC 14 book (plus a prequel) series by Robert Jordan then you can probably interpret and enjoy this design easily. But in case you have not, I’ll give you a brief explanation.
In the WOT world, the Amyrlin Seat is basically the queen of the whole world as all kingdoms bow to her and submit to the will of the “White Tower”. The White Tower is where all women who can channel (do “magic”) go to be trained and when they graduate to a full fledged “Aes Sedai” they pick an “Ajah” based on their personal preference. Each Ajah goes by a color (Brown Ajah, Grey Ajah, White Ajah, Red Ajah, Yellow Ajah, Green Ajah and Blue Ajah) and they dress according to their Ajah’s color. The Amyrlin is head of all Ajahs. She is “from all Ajahs and yet of none” and to symbolize that, she wears a stole with a stripe of each of the 7 Ajah’s colors. That’s where I came up with the stripes. The accent nail is “The Flame of Tar Valon” which is the official symbol of the Amyrlin and the White Tower. That is just a tiny bit of info about the series. It is a REALLY long story!

I imagine if you haven’t read the books then this won’t be much of a manicure to you. But, even if you aren’t familiar with the MASSIVE back story behind the inspiration of these nails, consider how hard it was to free hand these stripes. Ha! It did take a while and I know they are not perfect. I planned to do both hands but it was so late after I finished these that my Cinderella hand just got skittles so I could get to bed at a decent hour. Then my topcoat bubbled in the middle of the nail. Oh well, sometimes topcoat kills the mani. I struggle at times to float the brush to avoid smudging and to avoid bubbling at the same time.

That’s all for now. I meant to get this up on Saturday but time got away from me. It tends to do that with two kids to run after. I hope you all have a great week.

Purple Skittles

Howdy ladies!

By the time you read this I’ll be at the beach relaxing with the family for a few days! I live in a country with over 7,000 islands but only make it to the beach once or twice a year if we are lucky. Even then, we usually end up going only when we have guests from the US. In this case, my wonderful nother-in-law is visiting from Texas and we are taking some time off to chill at the beach with some great friends. Next week we will be back home and will play the tourists again and go sight seeing around town. Fun!

I did these the day after I saw this manicure by Chit Chat Nails. She mentions on her blog that she got this design from @madicures. I love how feminine this is and it’s a skittle mani which I also love!

The light purple is Oh My Golly Prom Queen, the darker purple is Klik Ube shake and for the stripes and the middle finger I’ve used Miss Beauty Diamondmax #8.

I went with a purple and silver theme since I don’t have a gold yet but that will be changing very soon! My MIL is bringing me some goodies and my sisters will be coming back from Texas as well next week and The Shutterbug is playing the polish mule so I’ll be posting some nail haul pictures soon. I’m most excited about my Color Club Halo Hues and LA Girl 3D polishes! Any nail polish/art goodies you have coming your way soon that you are excited about?

Neon Leopard Print

Hi ladies!
Before we get to the nails I’d like to let you know that it recently came to my attention that the “word verification” was set to ON for my comment section. Which means those of you who have been commenting are absolute darlings for enduring those stupid captchas all this time! I’m so sorry about that! Anyway, I’ve changed it and hopefully we are past that. Let me know if it pops up again because I remember turning it off when I first started the blog since I knew what a pain captchas can be especially on smartphones.

On to the good stuff!

RAWR!

So I have been feeling pretty low the past few days and decided I needed a really fun mani to cheer me up. So I incorporated my one of my favorites (leopard print) with the Shutterbug’s favorite thing (neons) and came up with this. What do you think? These are so fun and flashy! If you have been around, you already know I have a tough time going full blown neon on my nails. But I think this works for me for a fun day off.

I started with two coats of Jocarste white. Using a medium-large dotting tool, I added oddly shaped dots with Klik Neon Pink, Neon Green, Neon Orange, Neon Blue and Neon Yellow. Then I took my tiny dotting tool and added all the black with Oh My Golly Blackout. The colors actually look more highlighter-esque IRL.

I hope you are having a great week. Keep smiling!

Guest Post for The Polish Alcoholic

Hi everyone!

I’m back again with another guest post. Today you can come see me over at The Polish Alcoholic.  Sabrina is the genius behind the blog and has some super cute nail art and great swatches! I’m very excited to be on her blog today. Go go go and show her some love!

Click here to see my funky nail art!

I’ve got a teaser shot for you of my base color for the nail art featured on The Polish Alcoholic. You will have to drop by Sabrina’s blog to see what I’ve done to it. 😉 It’s Oh My Golly Citrine. This swatch completes my swatches of their Crystal Sand Collection. LOVE! This is 3 thin coats without topcoat and I would describe this color as a reddish orange. While I’m not a fan of orange on my nails but I can definitely handle this shade. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. I love how the Crystal Sand polishes dry so fast. That’s s a BIG plus when you have two children to chase around all day… every day!

I hope you are all having a great week and that you have something fun planned for the weekend!

Hugs!
