Bobbie Purple Dazzle Review

Before I show you my nails today I’d like to take a moment to remind you that I’ve got a lovely GIVEAWAY going on right now. If you haven’t joined already I hope you will do so and tell your friends about it. I’ve got 3 great prizes up for grabs and it is open internationally.

I’ve got a very simple swatch and review for you today. I’ve swatched Bobbie Purple Dazzle over Klik Purple Velvet to get this pretty look. (Klik Purple Velvet is a frosty purple that is a bit darker than Purple Dazzle.)Ā  Purple Dazzle is labeled as a “glaze” and I would describe it as a jelly like frosty purple base with holographic gold glitter floating around in it. It’s quite pretty. I just wish that they had either made the base without the shimmer or used smaller glitter. If you look carefully you can see that some of the glitter is the size of standard craft glitter and, because it is suspended in a frosty base, the glitter from the first coat appears bumpy under the second coat. It doesn’t look even in one coat so a second coat IS needed. I do like it but I’m not sure I would buy another bottle of this shade. Do you have it? Do you love it? Hate it? Or stand somewhere in between like me?

Bobbie polishes are available at many department stores and beauty supply stores for 36 Philippine Pesos ($0.83) for an 8ml bottle.

I know it’s been a bit quiet around here this week and I’m sorry about that. IĀ  haven’t been able to do much with my nails this past week as I’ve been having a lot of vertigo due to the earthquake that hit last week and all the subsequent aftershocks. The 7.2 magnitude earthquake’s epicenter was in Bohol which is the island next door to us so we felt a big quake too and all the aftershocks are quite unnerving. Having vertigo is really annoying but I’m still thanking God and counting my blessings because it is nothing compared to those who are really suffering from the damage of the quake in Bohol. If you would like to donate funds to help those affected by the earthquake then please visit http://www.redcross.org.ph/.

I hope you have a blessed day. šŸ™‚

Klik Burgundy and Cobwebs

Hi everyone!
I’d like to say a special welcome to all the new faces *waves*! I’m thrilled to have you here.

I’m so excited to see all the entries coming in for the giveaway that started yesterday. If you haven’t already joined, you really should. There’s lots of great stuff up for grabs and it doesn’t cost a thing to enter. Not even much effort if you already follow me via Bloglovin, Twitter, FB, GFC, Instagram or anything like that.

What I have to show you today was a pain to create so you had better leave me a comment saying you love them as much as I do. Ha! Just kidding. (No really, you should say something nice. It would make me smile.)

I started off wanting to swatch Burgundy from Klik’s holiday collection, (swatch is at the end of the post) and it turned out to be a lot more work than I had anticipated. Upon my inspection of the polish, I thought it would need just 2 coats. But after 2 coats it was very streaky and showed bald spots. I waited quite a while before adding the third coat since it was raining in Cebu and the added humidity always seems to cause bubbling. Despite the long wait, I still ended up with bubbling after applying the third coat. Meh! On top of that, in certain light you can still see some thin spots and cleanup was a pain. After several hours, more bubbles showed up and I was so sad that my manicure had gone from pretty and polished to pretty awful.

As I sat down to remove this, I had an idea to try and salvage the look. I grabbed my awesome MJ XIII stamping plate that Meann of My Online Shop sent me and selected this cobweb design. After several failed attempts at color choice, I stamped with Color Club Harp On It. and I love how it turned out. Mr. Nailinator and the 4 year old boy both say this looks like a Spiderman mani. Do you love it? I do. I’ve included a shot under the lamp so you can see the holo shimmer. I’m pleasantly surprised how well the CC Halo Hues work for stamping.

Do you have a favorite non stamping polish to use for stamping? Do share and have a great day!

Over and out!

Purple Skittles

Howdy ladies!

By the time you read this I’ll be at the beach relaxing with the family for a few days! I live in a country with over 7,000 islands but only make it to the beach once or twice a year if we are lucky. Even then, we usually end up going only when we have guests from the US. In this case, my wonderful nother-in-law is visiting from Texas and we are taking some time off to chill at the beach with some great friends. Next week we will be back home and will play the tourists again and go sight seeing around town. Fun!

I did these the day after I saw this manicure by Chit Chat Nails. She mentions on her blog that she got this design from @madicures. I love how feminine this is and it’s a skittle mani which I also love!

The light purple is Oh My Golly Prom Queen, the darker purple is Klik Ube shake and for the stripes and the middle finger I’ve used Miss Beauty Diamondmax #8.

I went with a purple and silver theme since I don’t have a gold yet but that will be changing very soon! My MIL is bringing me some goodies and my sisters will be coming back from Texas as well next week and The Shutterbug is playing the polish mule so I’ll be posting some nail haul pictures soon. I’m most excited about my Color Club Halo Hues and LA Girl 3D polishes! Any nail polish/art goodies you have coming your way soon that you are excited about?

Neon Leopard Print

Hi ladies!
Before we get to the nails I’d like to let you know that it recently came to my attention that the “word verification” was set to ON for my comment section. Which means those of you who have been commenting are absolute darlings for enduring those stupid captchas all this time! I’m so sorry about that! Anyway, I’ve changed it and hopefully we are past that. Let me know if it pops up again because I remember turning it off when I first started the blog since I knew what a pain captchas can be especially on smartphones.

On to the good stuff!

RAWR!

So I have been feeling pretty low the past few days and decided I needed a really fun mani to cheer me up. So I incorporated my one of my favorites (leopard print) with the Shutterbug’s favorite thing (neons) and came up with this. What do you think? These are so fun and flashy! If you have been around, you already know I have a tough time going full blown neon on my nails. But I think this works for me for a fun day off.

I started with two coats of Jocarste white. Using a medium-large dotting tool, I added oddly shaped dots with Klik Neon Pink, Neon Green, Neon Orange, Neon Blue and Neon Yellow. Then I took my tiny dotting tool and added all the black with Oh My Golly Blackout. The colors actually look more highlighter-esque IRL.

I hope you are having a great week. Keep smiling!

Sun and Flowers Nail Art

Hi gals!
Let me start by pointing out that, although this would be more appropriate as a spring time design, we don’t have four seasons over here in the Philippines. All we have are wet and dry versions of hot, very hot and ridiculously hot times of the year. :/ So my”Sun” inspired mani is all about the sun and pretty flowers in bloom. I’ve even got a cute little bee with his tiny wings flying around doin’ his thing. Aren’t these adorable? I am quite pleased with them. My almost 2 year old girl thought they were cute too.

I used a whole bunch of different polishes to do this and don’t particularly want to get my bum off the couch to list them all (it’s been a long day). Sorry. I guess it’s one of those days.

On a more exciting note, I’ve got a great week lined up for you gals. I’m going to be guest posting on not just one but TWO great blogs this week and hopefully I will have my very first guest poster come visit to wow us with her amazing skills! I am excited so stay tuned!

Just in case you missed it, I joined instagram a couple of weeks back and I would love to connect with you there especially if you want to see more pictures than what I share here or on FB. šŸ™‚ Find me @thenailinator (I’ve got a link in the side bar) and let me know you follow my blog too. šŸ™‚

I hope you are having a fantabulous weekend. Talk to you soon!
