Reverse Gradient Leopard Print

All products used were purchased by me or given as a gift to me by a friend.
All opinions are my own. πŸ™‚

Day 22 of the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge Giveaway is “animal themed” and I’ve been hankering for some leopard print.

Have you ever had an idea for some nail art that looked amazing in your head but didn’t quite translate the way you expected on your nails? Yeah, me too. But this is NOT one of those ideas.
I wanted to try a reverse gradient leopard print manicure (I’ve never seen one of those) and picked a color scheme and went all in and look what I came up with….

TADAAAA!!!

Oh yes! This look rocks! I’m not usually one to toot my own horn but I did GOOD! I started off with one coat of Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet then sponged on Mint Sorbet, CG For Audrey and L.A. Colors Atomic with a makeup sponge. Then I used a dotting tool with Mint Sorbet and Atomic for the spots and outlined them with Chic Black Velvet. This is definitely not a subtle look but I think it’s a lot of fun. πŸ™‚ I’ve got a fun day out tomorrow and I’m excited I’ll be rocking these pretties all day.

I hope you guys love these as much as I do. Have a great day!

Hat Box Nail Art

Some products used were sent to me for my honest opinion.
Some were purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

Hey ladies!
I’ve got an ultra feminine look to share with you today. I wasn’t sure what to call it and my hubby said it reminds him of a hat box so we’re gonna go with that.

Light box

For the striped nails I applied 3 coats of Oh My Golly Quartz (pink) and then used a striper brush and Oh My Golly Hematite and carefully added the stripes. For the accent nails I started out with Hematite and used a dotting tool, Oh My Golly Quartz and White Out. The leaves were done with a small brush and Oh My Golly Gossip and Peridot.

Everytime I use my Oh My Golly polishes I love them more and more. They dry so fast and have great coverage. You can visit the FB page of Klik, the makers of Oh My Golly, and keep up with their promos and upcoming events here. I have it on good authority that a new collection is coming out in July!

What do you think of this look? Would you wear it? It’s a rather bold but feminine look I think. I like it!

Also, I’ve been playing around with my lighting a bit and the first pic is in a makeshift light box. I still used my phone but it might be nicer than the usual ones I take. What do you think?

Guest post at Short and Sweet in Texas!

Howdy y’all!

This has been a crazy week here in Nailinatorville. I’ve have had a rough week with several migraines but I made it through by the grace of God and with the help and encouragement of my wonderful family and friends.

I managed to get my act together this week and get a guest post written up for the lovely Julie of Short and Sweet in Texas. I came up with a mani that will I hope will make you think of Texas and I wrote up a novel on nail care tips and tricks. I do hope you will check it out and check out Julie’s blog. She comes up with great looks and has beautiful swatches.

It’s me, Mario!

Happy Friday everyone! I’ve got a fun filled post for you today. First I’d like to remind you that there is still time to enter my giveaway. Check it out here for a chance to win the Oh My Golly Crystal Sand collection.Β I had a very exciting week last week after I put up the info for my giveaway. I was contacted by Kimberly who is the General Manager and Product Developer for Ming Mei Cosmetics who makes the Oh My Golly and Klik polishes. We talked on the phone and she told me she loved my blog and she was so happy that I liked their polishes so much and she wanted to send me some more for giveaways and/or reviews. She was super sweet! So a few days ago I received a box in the mail and my jaw dropped when I opened the box and saw what all she sent me. Let’s just say that I’m excited and I’ve got lots to show you guys!

On to the nails! As I mentioned on my FB page, my sonhas been nagging me to do some nail art of his favorite game which is Super Mario, Mario Kart… Basically anything Mario. So I finally went online and found some pictures and gave it a whirl using several of my new lovely polishes byKlik/Oh My Golly. I think they turned out cute. When my son saw them he said “Ooooh. Great job!” so the effort was worth it. πŸ™‚ What do you guys think?

As a base color I used Oh My Golly Atlantis. I thought about using a lighter blue but Atlantis was calling my name and I had to try it. It’s so pretty on it’s own. It’s almost a one coater and dries so fast. Isn’t it gorgeous? I can’t wait to try this with glittery tips!

Here’s a break down of what colors I used. On my index finger for the star I used Klik Mango Shake and Oh My Golly Black Out.

For the Goomba on the middle finger I used Klik Cocoa (Dk. Brown) and Klik Kofi (Lt. Brown) and Oh My Golly Black Out for the details.

I saw the design for the mushroom on the ring finger online somewhere a long time ago and it stuck with me. Not sure who the idea came from but it’s definitely not mine.

That being said, I used Oh My Golly Salsa, White out and Black out for this adorable mushroom.

For the bomb guy (if my hubby was here he could remind me of theactual name of this character) on my pinky I used Oh My Golly Black Out,Klik Ashley, Oh My Golly White out andKlik Mango Shake. I sealed everything with a coat of Oh My Golly Colorless.I used a nail art brush for most of the art and a dotting tool for a bit of it too.

I hope you guys like these and that you have a great weekend!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Is it really May? Where did April go? I had a lot of fun participating in Short and Sweet In Texas’ nail art challenge for April.

I have wanted to do another flower manicure and have been tossing a few ideas around for what I’d like to do. I wanted to try an antiqued look and came up with the idea of doing a Saran Wrap mani with a nude color and a brown and adding flowers to that. The base didn’t quite turn out as I had imagined (see last pic) but I think the end result is still pretty. I think I’ll try different flowers next time.

I used an unnamed dusty nude and Oh My Golly Sunny Tan for the base and Oh My Golly Bikini (dk. pink) and Jocarste #36 (lt. pink) for the roses. I did the leaves with Caronia On the Go (dk. green) and Sansan Sea Green (lt. green). This is the first time I’ve done leaves and I finally got the hang of it while I was working on my right hand.

What do y’all think? I didn’t really like these until I finished them and added top coat.

On another note, my birthday is in May and I’m gearing up to have my first giveaway to celebrate the occasion! Yay!

Here is a picture before I added the flowers. As I was working on it I was discouraged because I thought it looked like a perfect Halloween manicure. Unintentional Zombie manicure take 2! The flowers made me not hate it. πŸ™‚
