Reverse Gradient Leopard Print

All products used were purchased by me or given as a gift to me by a friend.
All opinions are my own. 🙂

Day 22 of the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge Giveaway is “animal themed” and I’ve been hankering for some leopard print.

Have you ever had an idea for some nail art that looked amazing in your head but didn’t quite translate the way you expected on your nails? Yeah, me too. But this is NOT one of those ideas.
I wanted to try a reverse gradient leopard print manicure (I’ve never seen one of those) and picked a color scheme and went all in and look what I came up with….

TADAAAA!!!

Oh yes! This look rocks! I’m not usually one to toot my own horn but I did GOOD! I started off with one coat of Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet then sponged on Mint Sorbet, CG For Audrey and L.A. Colors Atomic with a makeup sponge. Then I used a dotting tool with Mint Sorbet and Atomic for the spots and outlined them with Chic Black Velvet. This is definitely not a subtle look but I think it’s a lot of fun. 🙂 I’ve got a fun day out tomorrow and I’m excited I’ll be rocking these pretties all day.

I hope you guys love these as much as I do. Have a great day!

Guest post at Short and Sweet in Texas!

Howdy y’all!

This has been a crazy week here in Nailinatorville. I’ve have had a rough week with several migraines but I made it through by the grace of God and with the help and encouragement of my wonderful family and friends.

I managed to get my act together this week and get a guest post written up for the lovely Julie of Short and Sweet in Texas. I came up with a mani that will I hope will make you think of Texas and I wrote up a novel on nail care tips and tricks. I do hope you will check it out and check out Julie’s blog. She comes up with great looks and has beautiful swatches.

Skittles

Before I tell you about this mani I want to say how sad I am that my topcoat killed this manicure! Mercilessly! Just look at those bubbles. No wait, don’t look at the bubbles. Just admire it from afar. It really is super adorable minus the bubbles.

The colors I used were
Jocarste – 56 white
Jocarste – 26 silver
Jocarste – 36 pink
China Glaze – For Audrey
Sinful Colors – Black on black
Dotting tool and a striping brush

Everything was free handed and I got tons of compliments with this look. I love it when my skittles turn out this cute.

Seeing Green!

Here is my entry for day 3 of the Pre-Spring Challenge Contest.

The theme is Green and I tried a saran wrap manicure for the first time using:

China Glaze – For Audrey and
Jocarste – #36 Light pink

I started with two coats of For Audrey and painted on a thickish coat of the pink and then took a wadded up piece of saran wrap and patted it on the nail while the oink was still wet. overall I like the look. Next time I try this method I will be sure to do colors that have a better contrast. Also, it is a lot easier to do a saran wrap manicure when you use tweezers to hold the wads of saran wrap.  I like it. Can you tell I love minty greens?
What do you think? Please try to ignore the mess. 🙂

Colorful animal print

This has to be one of my favorite looks ever! This was so fun to wear and so easy to do. I started with two coats of Caronia’s white and used 5 different colors and a dotting tool to make random blobs in a random pattern. It is important to make sure you have blobs and not dots because if your spots are too perfectly shaped then it will not look like leopard print. 🙂

You can use any color you like but the colors I used are
China Glaze – For Audrey (US brand)
Sinful Colors – Amethyst (US brand)
Sinful Colors – Why not (US brand)
Cover Girl – Sassy Strawberry 523 (US brand)
Enchanted – Orange (local brand)

I was going to try neons but I don’t have any true neons. I suppose I will raid my sister’s stash sometime and do this with neons.

After I placed all my blobs I took my Chic Black Velvet and the smallest dotting tool I have to complete the look. I waited a few minutes before applying top coat and then made sure to “float” the brush so as to preserve my fun nail art. I enjoyed this look so much and I hope you do too.
