Edgy Blues

I’ve been excited to try out these studs on my nails since I bought them about 3 weeks ago from Blooming Nail Cebu. June kind of got away with me so I decided to use them for day 2 of The Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge Giveaway! The theme for today is blue!

I started with two coats of Chic Montana which is part of their Grainy Collection which I LOVE! I love how fast this polish dries. I love the matte yet sparkly finish. I love how easy it is to clean up despite the fact that is is blue AND glittery! Montana is a bottle full of WIN!

I used tweezers and nail glue to apply my studs and I had some trouble as my nails are so curved the studs wouldn’t lie flat. I’m sure you can notice in the pictures. The nail glue held the studs on but it felt weird to have something so bulky on my nails. This was my first time using studs so I would appreciate any advice you stud veterans can offer.

What do you think of this look? It was really simple to do.

Have a great day ladies!

Pinkadots!

Good day folks!
I’m participating in a nail art challenge during the month of July which is hosted by the very talented ladies at Craftynail, Brijits Digits and Eeeek Nail Polish. I will most likely not be able to do a mani for each day of the challenge, I for sure wanted to do something for the first day which is PINK day! Click here for more info on the challenge and to see the links to all the great manicures for the month. I know you will find lots of creative ladies participating. If you are just finding out about it, please consider joining. These ladies are about as sweet as they come! This challenge even has giveaways at the end!!! Woohoo!

Here I started with 3 coats of Klik Lazy Pink. I really love the color in the bottle but I do not like any VNL and was kind of sad to have to use 3 coats for opacity. As a mom I ain’t got time for that! Ha! Still a very pretty color. I believe it is what one would call a crelly. I topped it with two coats of a black and white polka dot glitter (with a splash of white bar glitter) topper I purchased at Blooming Nail Cebu for 30php which is about $0.70. It comes in a 9ml bottle labeled number 52. It’s label is not in English so I can’t tell you much about it except that it’s pretty!

What do you think?

Blooming Nail Cebu

Hello there!                                                                                                                        (Update: April 2015)

I’ve decided to come back and update this post since it still gets so many hits and inquiries.

I don’t know why, but  sometime last year, Blooming Nail decided to change their brand name to Hokee. They still operate out of LJ Cosmetics store in APM Shopping Center by SM Cebu. Their prices and inventory are the same. The only thing they’ve changed is their name.

You can find them online on Facebook and Instagram. You can order online via FB.

I’ve taken a snap shot on Google maps of their place near SM. I dropped a pin on the location of LJ Cosmetics in the shopping center.  I hope it helps those of you on the search for nail art supplies.

Original post starts here:

Attention nail art enthusiasts of the Philippines! (Cebu City especially!)

When I started getting into nail art I looked and looked all over this crazy city for a place that sold supplies locally and I even checked online (Multiply, FB, Cebu Classifieds, Etc.) and had no luck at all. I’ve had to order stuff from the US or China and wait for weeks for it to arrive. Not any more my dears!

I was doing my periodic check online about 3 weeks ago and happened upon a Facebook page called Blooming Nail Cebu. My jaw dropped and then I may or may not have squealed out loud and jumped up and down giddy with excitement. They have TWO stores in Cebu that are beauty supply stores that have a new selection of nail art supplies by Blooming Nail Cebu. One is in Colonnade Mall and the other is in the APM Mall near SM. The Shutterbug and I dropped by the one in APM and we had to control ourselves. I haven’t ever seen so much nail stuff in one place before! I was able to get nail glue in a brush bottle, fimo slices, water decals, stickers, polish, flocking powder, foils and most impressive of all, they had a serious collection of metal studs! Barato pa! I will be doing some reviews on the items I purchased there but I also recieved a message about a week ago from Blooming Nail Cebu asking me if they could send me some products to review as well. How could I say no? Here is what they sent me. Thank you Blooming Nail Cebu!

I received these items this week in the mail and I’m quite excited about trying them out. They sent me embossed stickers, water decals, small square studs, Swarovski crystals, foils, flocking powder, striping tape, round glitter pieces, and a new kind of stamping thing I’ve never seen before. Very nice! I hope those of you in the Philippines, especially in Cebu, will check out their FB page or better yet, drop by and see their selection in person. I know from their Facebook page that they accept wholesale orders and will ship! Enjoy!

Hat Box Nail Art

Some products used were sent to me for my honest opinion.
Some were purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

Hey ladies!
I’ve got an ultra feminine look to share with you today. I wasn’t sure what to call it and my hubby said it reminds him of a hat box so we’re gonna go with that.

Light box

For the striped nails I applied 3 coats of Oh My Golly Quartz (pink) and then used a striper brush and Oh My Golly Hematite and carefully added the stripes. For the accent nails I started out with Hematite and used a dotting tool, Oh My Golly Quartz and White Out. The leaves were done with a small brush and Oh My Golly Gossip and Peridot.

Everytime I use my Oh My Golly polishes I love them more and more. They dry so fast and have great coverage. You can visit the FB page of Klik, the makers of Oh My Golly, and keep up with their promos and upcoming events here. I have it on good authority that a new collection is coming out in July!

What do you think of this look? Would you wear it? It’s a rather bold but feminine look I think. I like it!

Also, I’ve been playing around with my lighting a bit and the first pic is in a makeshift light box. I still used my phone but it might be nicer than the usual ones I take. What do you think?

Guest post at Short and Sweet in Texas!

Howdy y’all!

This has been a crazy week here in Nailinatorville. I’ve have had a rough week with several migraines but I made it through by the grace of God and with the help and encouragement of my wonderful family and friends.

I managed to get my act together this week and get a guest post written up for the lovely Julie of Short and Sweet in Texas. I came up with a mani that will I hope will make you think of Texas and I wrote up a novel on nail care tips and tricks. I do hope you will check it out and check out Julie’s blog. She comes up with great looks and has beautiful swatches.
