Metallic Saran Wrap Mani

The prompt for today’s mani is metallic so I pulled out some polishes that had a truly metallic feel (I don’t have many). I came up with this. It doesn’t photograph well but it is really pretty. I used 2 coats of Jocarste #26 Silver and layered one thick coat of Wet N Wild Caribbean Frost over that and used wadded up Saran Wrap for dabbing some off. The accent nails were done with a dotting tool. I was thinking of using black or purple over the silver for a more contrasted look but I’ve used a lot of black and purple lately so I went with this.

Elegant Rays of Holo Goodness

Hello new followers!

Today’s challenge prompt is a tape manicures. I haven’t had much experience with tape manicures in the past but despite difficulties I persevered and came up with this look that I love, love, love!
I started off with two coats of BK Holo #1 and then added some Wet N Wild Kaleidoscope glitter. I went ahead and let that dry overnight and today I cut up some scotch tape and used my Chic Black Velvet to add the black. I think they turned out awesome! I have several pictures for you today including a fuzzy one to let you see the holo glittery goodness! My sweet hubby, who I enlisted to help take pictures this evening, keeps commenting on how great they look.

Let me know what you think in the comments. I know you are jealous! 🙂

Neon abstract

Day 22 of Short and Sweet in Texas’ Nail Challenge is NEON! I’ve never worn neon before so this is a first for me.

This cool design is by Robin Moses. I saw this picture last week and tried my best to make it happen. I guess I could have hunted down her tutorial but I was too busy cleaning and playing with kids today. 🙂

It is definitely not a usual look for me but I do love the bright colors. 🙂 I started out with two coats of Jocarste 28 to make the neons have a metallic flair then, after raiding The Shutterbug’s stash to borrow some neons, I got to sponging. I used Chic – Neon Green, Neon Fushia, Neon Pink and Neon Yellow. Then I added the brush strokes with black, lemon yellow mixed with pastel yellow and blue lake acrylic paints. I hope you like them.

Have you even done any Robin Moses nail art? I did another one on The Shutterbug last year which I really loved how it turned out, but this is the only picture I have of it because I wasn’t really taking pictures of nails I did back then.

Wishful Flowers

A local nail product company called Wish has these adorable nail stickers that I got and decided to try for my floral mani for Short and Sweet in Texas’ Nail challenge for today. Consider this my review of this product.

I started off with two coats of Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet and then I carefull added my stickers to my thumb nails and accent nails. They looked so cute. Then I added topcoat and then they were not so cute! They have shriveled up on the ends and although they stuck well to the still tacky polish they are not laying flat. I’m so disappointed. A second coat of topcoat helped a bit but these don’t live up to my expectations. I need to get my hands on some water decals. Oh well, on to tomorrows mani. It more than makes up for this let down!

Framed mani

I tried my hand today at a framed mani for Short and Sweet in TexasNail Challenge and I think it turned out pretty cool. I used two coats of Caronia On the Go and used black acrylic paint and a Striper to paint the outline.

You can get an idea of how curved my nails are if you take note of how thin the lines on the sides look from straight on but compare that to the side shot and you can see the lines are in fact quite thick.

Anyway, I love this color so much. I’ve got two backup bottles and so does The Shutterbug believe it or not!

What do you think of this look?
