Emerald

Today I’ve got a pretty glittery polish for you. This is from Oh My Golly’s Crystal Sand collection. This is 3 coats of Emerald. Isn’t it pretty? It dries so fast too!
This polish along with the other polishes in this collection will be up for grabs in my upcoming giveaway. Have a great day!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Is it really May? Where did April go? I had a lot of fun participating in Short and Sweet In Texas’ nail art challenge for April.

I have wanted to do another flower manicure and have been tossing a few ideas around for what I’d like to do. I wanted to try an antiqued look and came up with the idea of doing a Saran Wrap mani with a nude color and a brown and adding flowers to that. The base didn’t quite turn out as I had imagined (see last pic) but I think the end result is still pretty. I think I’ll try different flowers next time.

I used an unnamed dusty nude and Oh My Golly Sunny Tan for the base and Oh My Golly Bikini (dk. pink) and Jocarste #36 (lt. pink) for the roses. I did the leaves with Caronia On the Go (dk. green) and Sansan Sea Green (lt. green). This is the first time I’ve done leaves and I finally got the hang of it while I was working on my right hand.

What do y’all think? I didn’t really like these until I finished them and added top coat.

On another note, my birthday is in May and I’m gearing up to have my first giveaway to celebrate the occasion! Yay!

Here is a picture before I added the flowers. As I was working on it I was discouraged because I thought it looked like a perfect Halloween manicure. Unintentional Zombie manicure take 2! The flowers made me not hate it. 🙂

Atomic

A sweet friend of mine presented me with a bottle of polish this evening. I know, friends that give polish as gifts are awesome!!

Anyway, the polish is L.A. Colors Atomic and it’s so pretty that I decided to incorporate it in my recreate manicure for the final day of Short and Sweet in Texas’ nail challenge. Check out all the links here.

My Adventures in Nail Art did these pretty nails and this is my interpretation. My glitter bits are kind of on the small side so I had some difficulty. As you can see I did the ring finger first so it doesn’t look so great. I started with a dotting tool and learned quickly that an orange wood stick is the way to go. Oh well, there is a first time for everything. I think they are pretty. I love my new polish. 🙂

Fireflies

I started feeling better this evening and my husband encouraged me to go ahead and do what I had in mind for my “Inspired by a Song” challenge for today. So I did! One song we like to listen to is Owl City’s Fireflies so I wanted to go with that. I couldn’t think how else to really go about doing fireflies so I went with swirls of them in a night sky. I chose to use two coats of Bobbie Super Nova. (swatch photo included) Then I took my dotting tool and some lemon yellow acrylic paint and dotted away.

What do you think?

Summer Leopard Gradient

The Shutterbug said I could use bright colors as the weekend is upon us so here is the design I came up with for the Gradient challenge. I knew I wanted to do animal print with a gradient background but couldn’t decide on a color scheme until I saw this picture.

These are so cool looking! I would never wear them myself I don’t think, but on my younger sister they work very well. I used Caronia products for this mani. I started with two coats of Sweet Surprise (yellow) and then sponged with Sweet Surprise and Sun Kissed (orange). Then I used Baby Pink and Black Velvet for the spots. Aren’t they neat? We think so!
