Free Handed Chevrons

Have you ever had an idea in your head for a mani and the colors picked out and execution planned then once you sit down to work everything changes? That’s what happened here. I pulled out tape, scissors and chose my colors and the order they were going to go in for a tape chevron manicure and then I ended up frustrated just trying to work with the scotch tape so I grabbed my nail art brushes. Then once I got started with the mani I switched the order of the colors.

I started with two coats of Oh My Golly Bikini then used a nail art brush and Caronia Gold Rush to add the angled lines and filled in the tips. Lastly I took my striper brush and Sinful Colors Black on Black and added the black lines. It’s not my usual style but it is growing on me. I did these on Saturday afternoon and I’ve gotten several compliments on the look. I think the colors make it pretty flashy. What do y’all think?

Sparkly Skittles

Hello to all my new friends out there. I’m so happy to have you. Thank you to everyone who has entered my giveaway. If you haven’t done so yet then you ought to. ๐Ÿ™‚ Who can say “no” to FREE POLISH?!?! I’m excited!

I decided on a skittle mani today because the lovely Marta of Chit Chat Nails is constantly coming up with magical combinations and I’ve been inspired to have a go myself. I like what I came up with. What do you think?

I used 2 coats of Oh My Golly Jive on the middle finger and thumb and added some BPS rhinestones. I used 2 coats of Jocarste 36 on the ring finger and stamped with Jive. On my index and pinky I’ve got 3 coats of Miss Beauty Diamondmax #8. You can’t really tell by the photo but there are tiny holographic bits in the mix of glitter. So sparkly. Here it is in the sunlight.

Whimsical Gift

I have had Revlon’s Whimsical on my lemming list for over a year and The Shutterbug surprised me with it as my birthday gift. Needless to say I was excited! I may have done a happy dance. ๐Ÿ™‚
I thought about how I wanted to wear it and decided to go with Sansan Sea Green as the base color and layer Whimsical over that. I love it! What do you think? I included swatches of Sea Green by itself too.

Have a great weekend y’all!

Birthday nails!

Today is my birthday! Woohoo! The hubby and I went to a bookstore and then to get some groceries to make dinner and we got some ice cream too. Life is good! ๐Ÿ™‚

For this look I used 3 colors from Chic’s Grainy collection. The Grainy collection consists of 5 beautiful jewel colored polishes with fine silver glitter mixed in which causes them to dry slighty grainy and matte. They are beautiful with or without topcoat. Montana (blue) is a new acquisition for me and is so gorgeous on its own. I applied 2 coats of Montana and paused to bask in the glory of it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Then I used Montana and Amethyst and a sponge for the gradient look. After wearing this gorgeous gradient for a while I took my dotting tool and added Shadow Crystal on the accent nails.

Happy Mother’s Day! My first DIY nail decals.

One day a year is not enough to honor the wonderful women who raised us but I do like to take the opportunity to tell my mom I love her and thank her for all the love she has showered on my siblings and I over the years. Love ya Mom!  Becoming a mom myself has been the BEST adventure ever and I love LOVE my babies!

I decided I needed a Mother’s Day themed mani for today and this is the first thing that popped into mind. I’m never going to get a tattoo because that’s just not me but I’m ok with nail tattoos. ๐Ÿ™‚
I have wanted to try making nail decals and thought this would be a good time to give it a go.

For the decals I used Chic Tea Rose (red), Regular White, and Black Velvet. In the first picture I used Chic Purple Lustre (frosty red) on all my nails except the accent nail but it was raining when I did my nails and the polish bubbled up so badly I ended up taking it off and using Bobbie Chestnut on all my nails. I think it’s cute. What do you think? Have you ever made your own nail decals?
