I’m Not Lion! I’m in love!

Hi girls!
Welcome to all the new faces! *waves* I’m so happy to have you here. I’ve got another treat for you today! I’ve asked the very talented Jacqui of Craftynail to do a guest post and I’m so excited to show you what she has created! She is always coming up with some very cool and clever designs. If you don’t already follow her, you need to! Go, go, go!
Take it away Jacqui!
Hello all!
My name is Jacqui and I have a blog in the US called Craftynail! I’m so very happy to do a guest post for The Nailinator today! Rachael and I both participated in a nail art challenge together earlier in the year- and the rest is history. We’ve been blogging buddies ever since! I’m also signed up for email alerts so I won’t miss any of The Nailinator’s posts. Did you see her Van Gogh Starry Night manicure from July? What a masterpiece! So when Rachael suggested I do something artistic like that for this guest post I figured I’d give it a try! It’s a perfect theme for me since I live in a very artistic household. My boyfriend is an artist so at any given moment there’s a good chance that both of us will be painting- me with my nails, and him with his movie paintings. So I’m gathering up all that artistic juju and putting it towards this manicure. How about some nail art inspired by Van Gogh’s Almond Blossoms ??
I started with a coat of Sally Hansen Maximum Strength and then applied three coats of a scattered holo from AVON called Celestial. I’ve only done a handful of guest posts so far, but I’ve realized that I used a holo basecoat for every single one! I’m seeing a pattern here. LOL! I can’t help it- scattered holos are just my style! They’re so fun and I think they make a great base for nail art.
I noticed that Van Gogh’s branches were defined and had dark outlines around them. So I gave my branches definition by first drawing them on with my black Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen . Then I filled them in using a detail brush and 3 different green & grey polishes: China Glaze Westside Warrior, Orly Jealous, Much? and Orly Faint of Heart. Then I hand-painted some blossoms using three different yellow & brown polishes: Sally Hansen Yellow Kitty, Sinful Colors Pull Over and Sinful Colors Nirvana . I topped it all off with my favorite Seche Vite topcoat… and there ya have it! Van Gogh-inspired nails!
Thank you Rachael for hosting my post! I look forward to your fresh nail designs once you’re settled in after the holiday!
And thank you all for reading. I love meeting new faces so feel free to find me on my blog, facebook, pinterest, twitter or bloglovin.
xx Jacqui
I just love these so much! Don’t you? She’s so very creative and she’s super sweet too! I hope you will drop by and visit her and show her some love.
Thanks a million Jacqui! I think you did a great job gathering up the artistic juju. Ha! We had a wonderful holiday and are still having a great visit. I look forward to getting some awesome nail art done in the near future too.
I hope you gals are having a great week so far. Toodles!

Howdy ladies!
By the time you read this I’ll be at the beach relaxing with the family for a few days! I live in a country with over 7,000 islands but only make it to the beach once or twice a year if we are lucky. Even then, we usually end up going only when we have guests from the US. In this case, my wonderful nother-in-law is visiting from Texas and we are taking some time off to chill at the beach with some great friends. Next week we will be back home and will play the tourists again and go sight seeing around town. Fun!
I did these the day after I saw this manicure by Chit Chat Nails. She mentions on her blog that she got this design from @madicures. I love how feminine this is and it’s a skittle mani which I also love!
The light purple is Oh My Golly Prom Queen, the darker purple is Klik Ube shake and for the stripes and the middle finger I’ve used Miss Beauty Diamondmax #8.
I went with a purple and silver theme since I don’t have a gold yet but that will be changing very soon! My MIL is bringing me some goodies and my sisters will be coming back from Texas as well next week and The Shutterbug is playing the polish mule so I’ll be posting some nail haul pictures soon. I’m most excited about my Color Club Halo Hues and LA Girl 3D polishes! Any nail polish/art goodies you have coming your way soon that you are excited about?

Here, I’m wearing it with a gold glitter I purchased from Blooming Nail Cebu.
Isn’t it just lovely? I can’t really decide if I like it more with or without the glitter as they are both so pretty.
I’ve got to tell you that I’m considering starting a “Fail at this Friday” feature where I can showcase how hard I fail at certain things… like one stroke flowers! I want to do stunning one stroke flowers so badly but, although I have worked with paint brushes and acrylic paints a lot, the one stroke technique is just not working for me. I had dreamed up how gorgeous white and yellow flowers would look against this blue. But no matter how I tried, I failed at it. Is there any nail art technique that you could submit for a “Fail at this Friday” feature?

Hi ladies!
Before we get to the nails I’d like to let you know that it recently came to my attention that the “word verification” was set to ON for my comment section. Which means those of you who have been commenting are absolute darlings for enduring those stupid captchas all this time! I’m so sorry about that! Anyway, I’ve changed it and hopefully we are past that. Let me know if it pops up again because I remember turning it off when I first started the blog since I knew what a pain captchas can be especially on smartphones.
RAWR!
So I have been feeling pretty low the past few days and decided I needed a really fun mani to cheer me up. So I incorporated my one of my favorites (leopard print) with the Shutterbug’s favorite thing (neons) and came up with this. What do you think? These are so fun and flashy! If you have been around, you already know I have a tough time going full blown neon on my nails. But I think this works for me for a fun day off.
