Metallic Purple

Today we’ve got “Metallic” as our theme. These are my first try at using nail foils. (I’ve gotten a lot of first tries in recently haven’t I?) The colors didn’t show up as well as I had hoped but that’s due to my dark base color choice I think.

I started off with two coats of Oh My Golly Purple Passion and then did a dashed design with the glue that I had that worked the best at picking up the awesomeness of the foil. I used the #22 foil that was sent to me by Blooming Nail Cebu. I do not have any of the special glue used for foils which is why I tried out the different glues I had here at home. I’ve been told since that you can use polish to transfer the foil so I will definitely try that next time. What do you think of this?

Have a great day ladies!

Fuzzy nails!

Wow! Thank you guys for all the love and comments on my chalkboard nails I posted last night. I’m so pleased that everyone likes them so much!

Day 9 of the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge Giveaway is “Textured” and I’ve been wanting to try out the flocking powder I got from Blooming Nail Cebu so that’s what I went with today. It’s kind of funny to note that I picked this up when I dropped by their store and then they sent me a jar of the same color. It’s a good thing it was my favorite color of the bunch huh? I believe this is the one that is listed as #6 on their page although the container is not marked with any number. These are available for 38 pesos per jar.
I started with one coat of Oh My Golly Jive and used tweezers to dust the fuzz on to the wet polish. It wasn’t really difficult and it was surprisingly fast to do. I couldn’t just leave them alone so I added a silver stud which I also purchased from Blooming Nail Cebu.

I’m not sure how I feel about velvety nails just yet. I think I’ll have to wear themlonger next time to be able to give it a fair chance.

Have you tried velvet nails? What do you think of them?

Chalkboard Nails

Our internet is finally working now and I hadn’t planned to throw something together for the 8th day of The Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge Giveaway but I ended up deciding on something after all. Today’s theme is Matte and I’m not really a huge fan of matte. I figured I’d try something though. The matte I used isn’t really the best but you kind of get the picture.

Here I’ve used 2 coats of Chic Black Velvet and did my art with white acrylic paint and topped it with Etude House Matte Real. I went with an elementary theme as you can see. Shapes, spelling, letters, multiplication and the thumb is writing lines. 😉 I thought that was a nice touch although it is REALLY hard to write letters so tiny! Props to the ladies that make it look good.

PLEASE ignore the horrible state of my cuticles. I blame it on playing in the pool with the kids today. 🙂

Well, I’m off to bed. Have a good one ladies!

Skittles!!

Just a quick post for you today as our internet is STILL out (it’s been 4 days now) and we are having to use the cellphone internet. Meh!

Day 5 of the Challenge is “Skittles” so I came up with these purple ones.

Index and thumb nails: Oh My Golly Purple Passion
Middle and Ring fingers: Oh My Golly Prom Queen stamped with Purple Passion
Pinky: Chic Amethyst
I stamped with the OB7 plate I purchased from MyOnline Shop.
I think these would look better had I not picked such a similar creme shade to match the glitter nail. So, while these didn’t turn out quite as I imagined I still like them. How about you?

Black Dragons

Hello ladies!
I’m back with another entry for the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge Giveaway hosted by Craftynail, Brijit’s Digits and Eeeek Nail Polish! Day 4 is black and white and I am here with my first experience using nail water decals.

I purchased these full nail water decals from Meann of MyOnline Shop. These came in a package of 12 decals which means there are just enough for one full manicure with two extras for using as an accent nail in a later manicure if you feel so inclined. Not bad for 20 pesos! Yep, just 20 pesos for the pack! That’s not even $0.50 folks!

I had never watched any tutorials on how to apply water decals but I had seen pictures. I misunderstood and thought that these would be extremely thin like a temporary tattoo and would need a base color. I was wrong. Turns out though that the way they work is, after lining them up properly you are supposed to apply clear coat and it melts the decal and you can pull off any excess hanging off the nail gently with a toothpick. If you look closely (Please don’t! Ha!) you can notice I was still getting the hang of it and messed up the tips a bit by pulling off the excess a little too roughly. They still looked great though and were fun to wear. I worked really hard all day cleaning house and there was no damage to the decals from my working. I’m impressed. I have two more sets of decals I’m eager to try. Go visit Meann’s shop and get some for yourself. You won’t regret it!

Tell me what you think. 🙂
